How to Get Around in Davis

Transportation Information

Although many things are within walking distance in Davis, you might find yourself in need of some transportation. There are several bus lines available throughout and beyond the city. In addition, you can hire a shuttle to transport you to and from the airport and your hotel.

Transport Within Davis

Unitrans

Unitrans is the primary bus system within Davis. The fare for each ride is $1. Please note that during the conference, Unitrans will be running on its Break Service schedule (for March 26th) and Saturday Service schedule (for March 27th and 28th). Please visit their website for more details about bus schedules.

Yolobus

Operating in addition to the Unitrans bus system, Yolobus has routes to and from Davis, Sacramento, and the Sacramento International Airport. Fares are either $1.50 for regular service or $2.00 for express routes.

Note: Driving is not recommended when getting around in downtown Davis, as parking can be a grueling and irritating process.

Transport from the Sacramento International Airport

If you need assistance getting to and from the Sacramento International Airport (SAC) and your hotel in Davis, you have the option of either hiring a taxi, taking Yolobus, or getting a ride on a shuttle. For more detailed information, please see the airport Ground Transportation page.

Shuttle Service

Davis Airporter is one of the shuttle services available at the Sacramento International Airport. One-way fares for one person are typically around $23 before tip. While you can make reservations online or by phone, you are not allowed to pay online. However, the company does accept credit card and cash payment at time of pick-up/drop-off.

Super Shuttle offers similar service and fares as Davis Airporter, but also allows for online payment.

Taxi Service

Please see the airport Ground Transportation page for more information on airport taxi service. Also, note that Davis taxi company fares are deregulated, so different companies may have different rates and individual companies may have multiple rates.

Car Rental

If you are interested in renting a car from the airport, please see the Rental Car map page for the Sacramento International airport. Please see this site for more information concerning parking on the UC Davis campus, in downtown Davis, etc.

Transport from the San Fransisco International Airport

If you are traveling from the San Fransisco International Airport (SFO) instead of the SAC airport, you have the option of using public transit, taking shuttles, etc. For more information, please see the San Fransisco International Airport's Transportation Services page.

Public Transit

If you are interested in utilizing public transportation to get to Davis, you can take a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) bus to the Richmond Station and transfer over to Amtrak. The Amtrak station in Davis can be found here.

Van Service

If you are interested in hiring a shuttle or van to take you to and from SFO (such as Super Shuttle or Davis Airporter), please see this page or this page. Please note that you will want to look for companies that offer service to Yolo County, and that fares from SFO to Davis will be much higher than those from SAC to Davis.
